Course Objective:

The objective of this course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to assume responsibility and make decisions relating to the management of a hazardous materials incident. Upon completion, students will be able to analyze a hazardous materials incident, develop an incident action plan, develop an effective NIMS/ICS organization, determine appropriate public protective actions, implement and coordinate response activities, evaluate and monitor progress and developments, and terminate the incident. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, case studies, audio/visual material, presentations/reports, quizzes. final written and practical examination for Oregon Fire Service Members Only.
