Certificate equivalency is based on each individual State Fire Marshal’s Office. For example, the State Fire Marshal’s Office in Washington State accepts Pro Board Certificates as a pre-requisite toward testing for an IFSAC Certificate.
The manner in which Pro Board or IFSAC certificate testing is governed by each State Fire Marshal’s Office, State funded Fire Service Educational Institutions or Accredited Fire Departments. For example, the State Fire Marshal’s Office in Washington is accredited through IFSAC and administers testing by way of Paper-Based Written Exams and Practical Skill Testing Stations. Mason County Fire District 6, WA is an accredited Pro Board agency providing a much more streamlined testing process utilizing Online Testing and refined Practical Skill Testing Stations. Results from Online Testing and Practical Skill Testing Stations are communicated to the student in real time with the official Pro Board Certificate mailed within a week.
