Trench Rescue Technician 1 & 2

Course Objective

This course is based on NFPA 1006: Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Professional Qualifications, Chapter 12, 2021 Edition. The Course is designed to offer a combination of classroom and practical evolutions that allow the student to learn proper techniques to make open trenches and excavations safe for victim access and removal. The class is made realistic by actual sheeting and shoring operations of unsafe trenches, by using wood, mechanical and pneumatic shoring equipment. The student will also learn and apply multiple skills in lifting practices within the trench environment.

Mason County Fire District 6 requires a score of 80% or better on the final written and 100% on the practical examinations for Pro Board Certification.

Instruction Methods:

Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, audio/visual material and psychomotor evolutions.

 

Course Materials:

Includes handouts, quizzes, class projects and discussion.

You will need to purchase and have with you to class the following reading materials.

Text: CMC Rope Rescue Manual 6th Edition (Students Responsibility)

 
Class Size:

10 students minimum; 25 students maximum.

 

Registration Instructions:

Please complete ALL FOUR STEPS of the Registration Instructions in sequential order.

Step 1 – Download to your computer the Pro Board Candidate Application Form. . To open the Candidate Application Form your computer must have a PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC – Free Version.

Step 2 – At the top of the application form click on ‘Add text’ and move the ‘Add text’ symbol to the Candidate Signature Line. Type the following, “Your Full Name – electronic signature”

Ex: John Smith – electronic signature

Step 3 – Please email your application to us at leslie@fowlerfire.com

Step 4 – Please click on Add to Cart for completion of the registration process.

 

Prerequisites: Firefighter I (IFSAC or Pro Board), Rescue Technician—Site Operations, Law Enforcement
