Rope Rescue Technician 1 & 2​

Course Objective

This course is based on NFPA 1006: Standard for Technical Rescue Personnel Qualifications, Chapter 5, 2021 Edition. This course begins with an Introduction to Technical Rescue and goes into rope rescue techniques. The classroom portion includes a review of equipment, knots, and rope safety. Instruction events include, establishing need for rope rescue, uses and limitations of equipment, knot craft, safety aspects, anchoring systems, rescue rappelling, third man rescue, lowering systems and other aspects of rope rescue. Incidents involving the application of special knowledge, skills and equipment to safely resolve unique or complex rescue situations. The course covers operations in a high angle environment including rescue of a suspended victim, serving as a litter tender and construction/operation of a high line system.

Mason County Fire District 6 requires a score of 80% or better on the final written and 100% on the practical examinations for Pro Board Certification.

Instruction Methods:

Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, audio/visual material, psychomotor evolutions.

 

Course Materials:

Includes handouts, quizzes, class projects and discussion.

You will need to purchase and have with you to class the following reading materials.

Text: CMC Rope Rescue Manual 6th Edition (Students Responsibility)

 

Class Size:

10 students minimum; 25 students maximum.

 

Registration Instructions:

Please complete ALL FOUR STEPS of the Registration Instructions in sequential order.

Step 1 – Download to your computer the Pro Board Candidate Application Form.  To open the Candidate Application Form your computer must have a PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC – Free Version.

Step 2  – At the top of the application form click on ‘Add text’ and move the ‘Add text’ symbol to the Candidate Signature Line. Type the following, “Your Full Name – electronic signature”

Ex: John Smith – electronic signature

Step 3 – Please email your application to us at leslie@fowlerfire.com

Step 4 – Please click on Add to Cart for completion of the registration process.

 

Prerequisites: Firefighter I (IFSAC or Pro Board), Rescue Technician—Site Operations, Law Enforcement
