Incident Safety Officer​

Course Objective

Major topics covered include risk management principles, environmental and physiological hazards, building construction and utility hazards, recognizing critical incident stress,reading smoke, fire development hazards, incident communications, conducting a scene survey, vehicleincident management, incident operations, helicopter landing zones, accident investigation, commercial fire hazards, hazardous materials, technical rescue incidents, and mass casualty incidents. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, case studies, audio/visual material, presentations/reports, quizzes, final written and practical examination for Oregon Certification.

Instruction Methods:

Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, virtual on-line classroom delivery, audio/visual material, learner presentations/reports and quizzes.

Course Materials:

Includes handouts, quizzes, class projects and discussion.

You will need to purchase and have with you to class the following reading materials.

Fire Department Incident Safety Officer, 3rd Edition (Students Responsibility)

 

Class Size:

10 students minimum; 25 students maximum.

 

Registration Instructions:

Please complete ALL FOUR STEPS of the Registration Instructions in sequential order.

Step 1 – Download to your computer the NFPA Candidate Application Form. To open the Candidate Application Form your computer must have a PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC – Free Version.

Step 2 – At the top of the application form click on ‘Add text’ and move the ‘Add text’ symbol to the Candidate Signature Line. Type the following, “Your Full Name – electronic signature” Ex: John Smith – electronic signature

Step 3 – Email completed application form to leslie@fowlerfire.com

Step 4 – Please click on Add to Cart for completion of the registration process.

Prerequisites: Fire Officer 1 or Rope Rescue 1 or Rope Rescue 2 (DPSST or Pro Board or IFSAC)
